The Social Security Administration has added 52 new conditions to its list of Compassionate Allowances. The additions include neurological disorders, cancers, and rare diseases.
Compassionate Allowances are conditions that the Social Security Administration has earmarked to “fast track” the disability application, to ensure shorter delays between application and approval. Social Security continues to work with the medical community to continually review the Compassionate Allowances list and add more conditions as they are deemed appropriate. Tens of thousands of people have benefited from the Compassionate Allowances program.
The addition of these 52 new conditions, which are effective in August, brings the total number of Compassionate Allowances to 165.
